Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has issued a 1,000 MW / 4,000 MWh tender for standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) under its Phase X program — a landmark initiative that strengthens India’s renewable energy backbone.
Following the success of Phase IX (450 MW / 900 MWh), this new tender expands capacity across 11 substations with a combined grid connectivity of 1,475 MW. Developers must meet stringent financial and technical criteria, including a minimum net worth of ₹10 million per MW quoted and compliance with round‑trip efficiency and availability standards.
The Strategic Role of BESS in Renewable Integration
Battery Energy Storage Systems are now central to India’s clean‑energy transition. They address the inherent intermittency of solar and wind power, ensuring stability and reliability across the grid.
